Rupert D’Cruze is an outstanding, highly versatile and experienced conductor, who is able to work with players of any age or ability to produce a first-rate performance . Every aspect of his work as a musician – from the administrative preparation of a performance through to the rehearsals and concert – shows total commitment and professionalism. Beyond this, Rupert’s gifts as an interpreter are exceptional. I have always admired his clear, calm, direct and economical way of getting the very best results from his players.
Dr. Timothy Bowers, Composer and Professor, Royal Academy of Music, London – August 2007
Rupert D’Cruze caught the music most sensitively. What pleased me was the judicious accuracy of tempo and the balance he achieved from the orchestra. The picture he painted was very much how I imagined it, and certainly the best performance to date that I have heard.
David Griffiths on the performance of his work ‘Rikoriko’ – February 2008
I so enjoyed the way he interpreted the Beethoven (Egmont Overture), taking the risk of performing the amazing crescendo as written. The Prokofiev (Second Violin Concerto) was wonderful, with sumptuous instrumental blends highlighted artlessly.
